About Joy Lambert

St. Barths

My name is Joy Lambert, creator of ” Art for Kids, The Hague.” I am an experienced K-12 art teacher. I grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, and completed my  post-secondary education in New York. I hold a masters in painting from the New York Academy of Art in New York City (2005). The language of instruction during our lessons is English and French.

I have developed this program with a very specific long-term goal of fostering art appreciation, and the art making process. Our program is a concept-based, sequential curriculum integrating art history, criticism, aesthetics, and art production for all ages. It is designed to facilitate the development of interests in learning to understand, appreciate, and create works of art. Central to this approach is a focus on content derived from a broad range of visual arts with an emphasis on what can be learned from the works of art. Students will develop their communication, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills through visual expression. The program includes skill development in drawing, painting, sculpture, and craft.

I love sharing my knowledge of the art making process, techniques, materials, history, and hope to inspire the children to make this their ‘own’ activity. The program is based on the learning bench-marks from art curriculums in the states of New York, California and New Hampshire. We remain steadfast in pursuing the elements of art, and at the same time encourage the children to explore using many different kinds of materials. We work from structured lesson plans and, as time allows, children are given materials to experiment with at the end of the sessions. Learning, fun, exploration and self-confidence are the guiding principals behind art-for-kids, join us!
