Early Childhood curriculum

Preschool:

Emphasis is on drawing, painting, cutting and pasting, assemblage, self discovery and expression. They begin the process of learning to draw by tracing simple shapes and designs and then coloring. We discuss human proportion and the body throughout the school year. Students work on collaborative projects in school that involve color, shape, pattern and printmaking, and self-expression. Art and culture is introduced by reading stories to them about artists.

Pre -K & Kindergarten:

Fundamental art techniques are presented such as color, line quality and the value of personal expression. Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors are reviewed and color mixing is demonstrated within lesson plans. Emphasis is on drawing, painting, cutting and pasting, shapes and assemblage. They begin the process of learning to draw by tracing simple shapes and designs and then coloring. They learn proportions of the human figure. Art and culture is introduced by reading stories to them about artists. Projects become more challenging throughout the year.
